Have you ever fallen in love with the wrong person—or the person who feels he or she is wrong for you?

NOBODY'S HERO is the continuing romantic journey of Adam and Karla, which began in MASTERS AT ARMS & NOBODY'S ANGEL.

Retired Marine Master Sergeant Adam Montague has battled through four combat zones, but now finds himself retreating from Karla Paxton, who has declared war on his heart. With a significant age difference, he feels he should be her guardian and protector, not her lover. But Karla's knack for turning up in his bed at inopportune times is killing his resolve to do the right thing. Karla isn't the young girl he rescued nine years earlier—something his body reminds him of every chance it gets.

Their age difference is only part of the problem. Fifty-year-old Adam has been a collector of lost and vulnerable souls most of his life, but a secret he has run from for more than three decades has kept him emotionally unable to admit love for anyone. Will Karla be able to break through the defenses around his heart and help him put the ghosts from his past to rest? In her all-out war to get Adam to surrender his heart, will the strong-willed Goth singer offer herself as his submissive and, if so, at what cost to herself?

ABOUT THE RESCUE ME SAGA The books in the ongoing Rescue Me Saga are not stand-alone stories and should be read in order. Characters will recur in later books to deal with further issues in their lives as the saga continues and each book builds upon all previous ones. Sometimes main characters even need another book to help resolve major issues affecting their relationships.

BONUS MATERIAL in this version Kallypso Masters has added the PLAYLIST of music that inspired her as she wrote about the first three couples mentioned in this combined volume, as well as a GLOSSARY OF TERMS and a CAST OF CHARACTERS in these books in the saga.

CONTENT WARNING Intended for mature adult readers not offended by profanity and graphic (but never gratuitous!) sex scenes. Due to the emotional way in which the author presents the subject matter (past and present), the books might cause triggers while reading. Please read the Author's Notes at the beginnings of each book before reading further.

Nobody Hero Rescue Me Saga #2 edition by Kallypso Masters Literature Fiction eBooks

I'm giving it 5 stars because it was very well written, even if some of it wasn't for me.

LOVED: I love, LOVE May-December romances, and this was absolutely perfect. I rarely see a gap like this, and when I do the heroine is usually 18 or some other improbable age. This was perfect, and the dynamic was very believable. Also (SPOILER), I adored the ending. The pregnancy was so perfect, and I love how possessive he became over the unborn baby. This ticked all of my boxes for a perfect romance.

DIDNT LOVE: there was a LOT of bdsm. I'm very into alpha males/naturally dominant men, but not really into the super specific toys and things. If you are, however, this book definitely has it in spades. If you aren't into it, that's fine too, because there's enough going on that it isn't necessarily central to the story. You won't be put off by it.

Nobody Hero Rescue Me Saga #2 edition by Kallypso Masters Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Even though this is not the first, second, or even third time that I have read Nobody’s Hero, I still forget how much happens during the course of Adam and Karla’s story. This installment picks up where Nobody’s Angel ended, with Adam in the hospital recovering from the cougar attack. Of course Adam can’t wake up from a coma like a normal patient. Nope, the master sergeant wakes up dropping the f-bomb because he discovers Karla in his bed. Not, where am I? Not, what happened? Nope. It’s why the eff are you in my bed? That opening line still makes me laugh every time I read it. I suppose it was a good way for Ms. Masters to start the book off because as Adam resists Karla and her love, a large prat of the rest of the book is filled with heartache, heartbreak, and angst because of Adam’s single-minded foolishness. And let’s not forget the seriously hot BDSM sex that Adam introduces Karla too. Lucky girl!

If you read Masters At Arms like you should have, then you know that Adam first met Karla when she was 16. Fast forward nine years, and 25 year old Karla is now singing in Adam’s BDSM club and trying to convince the bullheaded man that he is not too old for her, that he’s not too damaged for a relationship, and that he is worthy of love. While Adam is attracted to Karla, the fact that there is a 25 year age difference makes him feel like a pervy old man often. But that is just one of the myriad of reasons that he gives for avoiding her attempts to move them past being just friends. The master sergeant may have patience honed from years in the Marines and as a Dom, but his patience and resistance have nothing on Karla’s persistence and determination. The fact that Adam underestimates her determination – especially considering the circumstances under which they first met – leads them both into an M/s relationship that works for neither of them and nearly destroys the Karla that Adam knows and loves. Although it is Adam who safewords out of that devastating arrangement, ultimately it is Karla who must decide how much of Adam is enough for her to be happy.

I absolutely love this series and Nobody’s Hero is probably my favorite book of the four I have read. Yep, I’m behind on the series, which is one of the reasons I wanted to reread them; the other being that I absolutely love Ms. Masters’s writing and want to share it with others. I like how we get to see how Marc and Angie are faring, as well as how Damian is doing and how the events that impact his life in this book set the stage for the next book in the series, Nobody’s Perfect. That Ms. Masters does not make the road to happiness for Adam and Karla smooth and obstacle-free is why I enjoy her writing so much. Before finding their way to a future together, Adam and Karla must first come to terms with who they are as individuals and their personal journeys of self-discovery are fraught with ghosts from their pasts (almost literally). The wedding ceremony that occurs is at the top of my list of favorite book weddings and I still tear up during the couple’s exit. There is so much more to Nobody’s Hero that I love and that I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that I absolutely love the book and I’m already looking forward to my reread of Nobody’s Perfect.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

ADAM and KARLA'S STORY...

Ok... so glad I read the beginning FREE book "Masters At Arms," so that I could understand these characters and why and how they interact with each other... it also was a nice teaser to have the end of "Nobody's Angel" kind of start out Adam and Karla's story... just a bit...

There is so much to this story... so much past hurt... so much past regrets... so much each person has to learn from the other... I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this story for my brief time reading it...

I was laughing, crying, and getting pissed all in the same 10 minutes... My heart was breaking for Karla. All she wants if for Adam to love her... she's wanted it ever since she was 16 years old, but he's professed to be incapable of that, so of course Karla settles for whatever she can get from him... which by the way is killing her (and me) in the process!!!!

I was uber pissed at Adam for agreeing to teach Karla the lifestyle, but making it extreme and hard in hopes that she would "safeword" and it would be all over... my heart was aching for Karla... man if I could have reached in that book and slapped the crap out of Adam, I think I would have done it several times!!! You know what it's like when you do something for someone that you really don't want to do, but you do it just so they'll like/love you, but it's killing you and making you sad...Selling your soul to win someone's love is just too painful and usually doesn't work!!! Can you imagine saying... "He'll always have my heart even though he left it bruised"??? I sobbed just typing that!!!

It's always my favorite part when the dude realizes he effed up and has to figure out how to win his woman back... grovel, beg, crawl, etc...

All in all, I really enjoyed this story... and I'm glad to see that Damien and Savannah will be the next book... that beginning for them in "Master At Arms" really pulled on my heart strings... I need more Damien/Savy time!!!
Where do I start? I was excited about reading this story. I liked the idea of Adam and Karla. But, I was disappointed in Ms. Kallypso's development of Karla. I don't want to spoil the story, so I won't get into any specifics. But, I had a don't-really-love/really hate connection to Karla. It seemed the author wanted her to be strong and challenge Adam. But, her thought process was the exact opposite. She seemed immature and juvenile and did not ascend past those traits. Just when I thought she would, I was disappointed by a thought or comment she had.

I would describe Adam as a tragic hero who I liked.

What I did not like was the fact that this book could have started in the middle and the story would have still been fine. The first half was tedious and said the same thing over and over again. I felt like the first half of the book could have been reduced to a couple of well-written chapters.

I hope I am not disappointed in Damian and Savannah's story.
I'm giving it 5 stars because it was very well written, even if some of it wasn't for me.
